As an extension of our NCDC Main Camp the Bruins will enter teams in the USPHL Summer Showcase July 13th-15th at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro, MA. All players committed to play for the Junior Bruins in 2018-19 will be skating in this event and ALL PLAYERS attending Bruins Main Camp are encouraged to skate with us in the summer tournament as well. A player who cannot make it to main camp can still sign up to skate with us in the summer showcase and vice versa.
Our 2018 main camp will be run by NCDC Head Coach Mike Anderson. Entering his 16th season, and 9th with the Junior Bruins, Mike is a 2001 graduate of the University of Connecticut (NCAA DI Hockey East) where he was a captain. Assistant coaches John Butler (Bentley), Joe Charlebois (UNH, US NTDP) will assist in running on ice sessions. Topher Bevis (UMASS, US NTDP) our 16u full season head coach, Nevin Hamilton (Lowell, AHL, GoalieDev) our USPHL Premier head coach and Blake Bellefeuille (Boston College, NHL) our 18u full season head coach will all assist in skill development sessions during camp. Mike Macchionni (Northeast Sports Training, NHL, AHL) will handle all of our strength and conditioning needs.
NCDC head coach Mike Anderson, “Our main camp is an invaluable opportunity to work with all of the players in your program over a period of multiple days. It’s our first opportunity to integrate our new players into our systems and learn more about each players strengths and weaknesses so that everyone is in a position to be successful come September. There’s a lot of learning that takes place off the ice. Where am I living, where will I be taking classes, everyone getting to meet to their new teammates and coaches. It’s great to be able to get all that done in advance of the start of the season. For our draft picks, both futures and main draft, it’s in many cases the players first glimpse into junior hockey and we want those players to see the quality and depth of the players and coaches in our program. We’re excited to get going”.
