MARLBORO, MA - The college commitments have been coming in steadily over the last month of the summer and start to the season. Up next is Sam Kurker who accepted a scholarship to Boston University. Kurker, a 1994 Forward who first came to the B’s seven years ago on the organizations 1994 AAA tournament team, is now a captain of the Little Bruins.
Kurker was a mainstay
on a very talented and the succesfull Junior Bruins 1994 AAA tournament team, a team that was the first to win multiple titles at Prospects as well as other prestigious events in Montreal, Boston and beyond.
Kurker came to the Little B’s a year ago and had a succesful fall season before helping his high school team reach the state finals with fellow B’s alum Colin Blackwell. This year has already gotten off to a strong start as Kurker helped lead the Little B’s to a finals appearance in the MA Select League Tier 1 Labor Day Face-Off.
Kurker is a big, powerful skater who is at his best when he is playing a “north/south” game and getting to the net, has a great release and “heavy” shot that can beat goalies from just about anywhere in the offensive zone as well as a high compete level.
“Sam has been an elite player since he was 8 years old and has continued to develop because he has never stopped working and
improving his game,” coach Chris Masters commented. “What has been fun to watch is his development over the last 7-8 years and watch him go from an elite mite/squirt player to where he is today and his commitment to one of the top programs in the country. With his skill level, work ethic and attitude he should be an impact player for BU.”
Congrats to Sam and his family!
