McLaughlin to Amherst

First year Bruin commits to the Jeffs

MARLBORO, MA - Premier team forward Jake McLaughlin has committed to Amherst College for the upcoming season. Through 26 games McLaughlin has a 5-4-9, +3 line. The Chestnut Hill, MA native will stay in the Bay State for his college hockey and says the opportunity to skate for Amherst was a perfect fit, “I’m really looking forward to attending Amherst and being a part of the hockey team. The coaching staff and players are all great people and I loved the feeling and school”.

McLaughlin first came to the Junior Bruins as a member of the 1994 AAA tournament team. That team’s alumni list now stretches to close to 20 players who are currently playing college hockey or have made college hockey commitments. “The ’94 team is one of the best we have had and Jake was a part of that team when he was a squirt and pee-wee. It has been great to see his development over the course of the past eight years or so and see him heading to one of the premier academic institutions in the country."

McLaughlin has started to find his scoring touch of late recently registering 5 points in a 4 game stretch which saw his team win games against the Middlesex Islanders, South Shore Kings and Connecticut Yankees. Both his current and future teams are enjoying great success of the ice this season. The B’s sit atop the USPHL Premier Division and Amherst is a perfect 5-0 in the early going including a home and sweep of rival Hamilton College.

For McLaughlin the USPHL and Junior Bruins has provided him with a great development opportunity. “The Junior Bruins program has surrounded me with an abundance of talented, hard-working players and harbors an environment that has forced me to get better every day. The competitiveness in the USPHL and high level of play has been an integral part of my development”.

Congratulations to Jake McLaughlin and his family on his commitment to Amherst College.
