MARLBORO, MA- Junior Bruins USPHL Premier Defenseman Bryan Carter has committed to the University of New England for the Fall of 2015. Bryan becomes the 9th Bruin on the Premier team to be committed to school. In 32 games this season Bryan has a 1-9-10, +23 line good for 2nd overall on the team in plus/minus.
A Hudson native and 2012 graduate of Hudson High School, Bryan started with the Junior Bruins program in 2011-12. From 2011-14 Bryan would skate with our CHA, Empire and Elite teams excelling at each level along the way. This season at the USPHL Premier level was no different. “Bryan has always risen to the level of his competition. He’s continuously been pushed to do more and every year he has responded. He’s developed into one of our more consistent defenseman”, adds Associate Head Coach Mike Anderson.
In college Bryan will join a UNE squad that is currently 2-5-0 and 3-8-0 overall in the rigorous ECAC East Conference which includes annual powerhouses Norwich, Babson and UMASS-Boston.The Nor’Easters graduate only one defenseman this season so Bryan will step in and compete at the college level just as he has done in junior hockey, something he feels well prepared to do; “One thing our coaches with the Bruins have always done is hold you accountable for the little things. Once you realize how much of a difference that makes, you change as a player. It’s run like a college program here and that’s going to make it that much easier to transition next season”.
Bryan had received multiple offers from other schools at the Division III level but quickly settled on UNE as the perfect place for him. “I’m really excited about committing to UNE. Everyone says you need to find a school that fits you both athletically and academically and for me this was the best of both worlds”.
Congratulations to Bryan and his family.
