MARLBORO, MA - The Junior Bruins are proud to announce that 2000 Junior Bruins AAA team defensemen Robert Radochia and family are the recipients of the 2013 Thomas C. Federico Memorial Award.
The Federico Memorial Award goes to the player and family who best represent on ice success as well as the character, perspective and attitude that the Federico family had.
Robert has been a member of the 2000 B’s AAA summer team since its inception and has been a top performer on the team since day one with team. Whether it was a tournament in Toronto, Montreal or in Boston he showed up, played hard, played well, put the team first, did whatever he was asked to do and did it all with a smile on his face. Like Danny Federico, Radochia, no matter what his role was on the team, was a player a coach loved to have on the team.
The 2000′s boast a deep, talented player pool in the Boston area. Evidence of that was the 2013 Quebec tournament that saw two local teams in the championship game. Radochia was one of the top defensemen at the tournament and helped lead his Eagles team to the championship game.
“Robert and the Radochia family are the type of people we love to have in our program and I know Tom and the Federico family would be proud to see a player like this as the recipient of the award named for Tom. Not only is he an elite player at his age level but he has the attitude and work ethic that we want in players wearing the Junior Bruins jersey,” AAA team Director Chris Masters commented.
In addition to Robert’s strong play and excellent attitude his parents, Bob and Yolanda, exemplify the character that Tom and Mary represented. Their loyalty and gratitude showed to the Bruins has been second to none. Whenever we asked Robert to play with us at a tournament, he was there. Bob and Yolanda always had a smile on their faces at the rink and always had a good word to say about other kids on the team and the program. They enjoyed the success that the team had as well as seeing other players have success.
That is the character, perspective and attitude that Tom and Mary had and Robert represents the attitude, work ethic, team first attitude and on ice performance that Danny represented.
The Federico Memorial Award will be presented to Robert and his family at the Junior Bruins banquet in March. Congratulations to Robert and his family!
