Beginning his first year on the Junior Bruins staff, Dan enters his fourth year of coaching. In his three previous coaching years, he has coached at the collegiate, Semi-Professional, and junior level. Dan is also a year round power skating and skills coach.
Dan’s coaching career began at his alma-mater, as an assistant at the University of Southern Maine (Div.III ECAC East). His role that year included film breakdown and review of the games with players, and orchestrating practices. Gordon then moved on to the Single-A semi-professional ranks with the now defunct Cape Cod Bluefins of the Federal Hockey League from 2011-2012 as Head Coach and Assistant General Manager. Last Season he took over as Head Coach of the Boch Blazers (Eastern States Hockey League) in January of 2013 eventually guiding them to an ESHL Championship and a berth in the USA Hockey Tier III Nationals in Rochester, MN.
A Lynnfield, MA native, graduated High School from The Pingree School in South Hamilton, MA. Tallying 225 points in his four years and senior year was All-Scholastic and All-State member as well as a first-team Division II Prep School All-Star. He then went on to Hockey-East school University of Massachusetts-Amherst on a scholarship and was a teammate of current BJB 16U Coach Topher Bevis in 2007. After two years at UMass Gordon went on to the University of Southern- Maine where he totaled 64 points in two seasons, and was a finalist for the Joe Concannon Award for best American-born in the NCAA Division II/III ranks.
After his first year of coaching, Gordon got the itch to return back to the ice where he hopped the pond over to Europe and was a top scorer in the French league he played in. He suited up for the Evry Redskins with former UMass teammate and Junior Bruins Alum Matt Burto in the French League in the 2010-’11 season. He was team/league leader in points per game with 2.75 during the regular season. The following season Gordon was the Player-Coach of the Bluefins before hanging up the skates for good the following year to just be behind the bench permanently.
Dan graduated from University of Southern Maine in Portland with a degree in Business and Sports Management. He currently resides in Boston with wife Hilary.
